The Stiller of Storms..!

It was a call from a hospital, saying his son had met with an accident that had him driving down the highway at breakneck speed.
He felt a storm brewing inside his mind, and then his switched-on car radio, began talking about a certain scene from the Bible. He listened to verses from the gospel of Mark:

35 That day when evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

The man at the wheel felt the question was being asked to him.

Slowly as the miles went by, he realised that the One who had stilled the storm outside could as easily still the storm inside and he started speaking to the ‘stiller of all storms.’

As he spoke, he felt that Jesus was listening attentively, his presence radiating peace and calm. When he finished, he felt the Man at the stern of the boat smile and say, “Son, you are not alone in this storm. I am here with you, and I can calm the turmoil within.”

“Please Lord, do so!” he cried out and with a gentle gesture, he felt Jesus reach out and place his hand on his forehead. Instantly, the storm within him began to subside. The winds of anxiety died down, the waves of fear receded, and the darkness of doubt began to lift.
He felt a deep sense of calm wash over him. He took a deep breath, feeling the tension in his body release, and looked up with tears of gratitude, “Thank you,” he whispered.

At the hospital he met his troubled wife, “You look so calm!” she said, “Do you know how bad the injuries are?”

“We are not alone!” he said, as he held her hand, “There’s Someone with us who will calm the storm, and help us steer our boat through this anxious time!”

It was the first time the surgeon who was about to operate had seen such peace in the eyes of parents of an accident victim, and he knew that Someone with more skilful fingers than his was going to provide healing in the operation theatre that day..!
