Her Body, A Temple..!

They sat together on the rocks and watched the waves come in. She felt his arms around her and felt safe and secure. “Thank you, God,” she whispered, “for giving me someone who loves me so much and who I love so very much too!” She heard the sound of the soothing waters and moved closer.
She must have dosed for a few minutes, but she was all alert suddenly. She felt his arms, they were not around her. His hands had left her shoulders and were slowly tracing a circle around her neck. She felt herself stirring with desire and turned to him. His hands were now like roaming tentacles and she felt his passion. He tried to lay her down on the rocks. “No,” she said gently.
“Why not?” he asked, a little roughly. “We are going to be married. It’s okay.”
“When we are married it will be okay,” she said with a smile.
“I thought you loved me,” he said gruffly, his passion unabated.
“Very much,” she said. “But I had a dream just now when I dozed off. I dreamt I was outside my body and I was walking towards it. My body was like a temple. Like the house of God”
“Oh, I see,” he said slightly disinterested.
“There were lights inside my body and the lights shone out for all the world to see.”
“See what?” he asked with a smile.
“See that God was dwelling inside the temple.”
“Inside your body?” he asked incredulously.
“Strange, isn’t it?” she asked looking at him with a smile. “But I saw that my body was the house of God and he was living in me.” The waves from the sea gently splashed against the rocks and there was a silence between the two young lovers.
“If God dwells in your body,” he said slowly, “it is a holy place.
“If God dwells in my body,” she nodded, “I need to keep myself holy for him.”
He looked at her and slowly put his arms around her again. She felt his strength and sureness and also the fact he had understood.
“He dwells in you too,” she said with a smile.
“I know,” he said and looked at her with eyes of love.
“We need to keep ourselves pure and holy for God to continue abiding in us,” she said. “I wonder why I dreamt that there were lights inside my body?” she whispered.
“Lights for others to see God in you,” he said simply.
They watched the sea as it gently kissed the rocks and felt their eyes on each other.
“Do you know something?” he whispered. “Your dream makes deep sense. Our bodies are God’s holy temple, not just the way we use it for love, but also the ways we should stop destroying it with drugs and drinks, and even gluttony!”
Suddenly they held each other, respecting God’s temple in one another..!

  1. Yes, God dwells in each one of us. May we always be mindful of this, especially when we are tempted to do something wrong.

  2. We are dwelling place of Holy God, and therefore let His holiness be seen through our thoughts, words and physical actions, till Jesus returns.

  3. Truly we are a temple of the Holy Spirit and God dwells within each one of us. If only we realised and remembered this always, the world would be such a different place, because God is Love.

  4. Absolutely true.

Our body is a temple and we should take care of it in every possible way. Spiritually, mentally and physically by prayers, good deeds, actions, mindful eating and exercise. A healthy body and mind should be the goal of every human being.

  5. I must add that your thoughtful article not only is inspiring to many young girls and women but most importantly, to young boys and men who must be nurtured and taught when young to respect, love and protect girls and women of all ages and at all times.

  6. Sadly in today’s world we want instant gratification. We don’t have patience. A woman admires a man who has self control n who can wait. Why can’t our young people learn to control their passions?

  7. Thank you Bobby for your article teaching profound truth.God told us,”Be holy as I am holy.” When we sin with our body, we lust and sin against ourselves. Eros is not God but a false god. The fruit of The Holy Spirit is self control of the9given
