Your Actions Advertise Your Faith…!

Somewhere in the madness of war, where bullets argue louder than philosophers and explosions interrupt even the sincerest prayers, two soldiers found themselves in a moment that no debate show could ever recreate.

One was wounded.

The other was not.

Now if this had been a panel discussion, experts would have quickly arrived to analyse the situation. They would have asked which regiment they belonged to, what their backgrounds were, and of course, the most important question for modern relevance, what was their religion. Then they would have debated for three hours, raised their voices, and left with absolutely no one any wiser.

But on that battlefield, there was no anchor, no moderator, and thankfully, no breaking news banner screaming across the sky.

There was only a man dying of thirst and another man holding a water bottle.

And here is where things become very inconvenient for all of us who enjoy arguing about faith from the comfort of our sofas. The uninjured soldier did not ask for identity proof. He did not demand a declaration of belief. He did not say, “Before I give you water, please confirm your theological position.”

He simply gave.

Even though his own throat was parched.

Then came the cold, the kind that does not politely knock but barges in like an uninvited guest at a wedding buffet. The uninjured soldier took off his coat and covered the wounded man. Not because it was practical. Not because it was strategic. But because it was human.

He stayed with him through the night.

No sermon. No lecture. No hashtags.

Just presence.

And as life slowly slipped away from the wounded man, he said something that should make all of us who love religious debates slightly uncomfortable. He said, “I do not know what faith you belong to, but if I could live again, yours would be the faith I would follow.”

Now that is a rather dangerous statement in today’s world.

Because it quietly suggests that faith is not proved by what you argue, but by what you do.

We live in a time where people defend their religion as though it were a cricket team. Loudly, passionately, and often without reading the rulebook. We shout, we post, we forward messages that come with more heat than light.

But imagine if, instead of forwarding a message, we passed a bottle of water.

Imagine if, instead of covering someone in criticism, we covered them with kindness.

Suddenly faith would become something visible.

Not in buildings, not in slogans, but in behaviour.

Because at the end of the day, nobody lies on their deathbed wishing they had won one more argument. But they will remember the person who stayed, who gave, who cared.

And perhaps that is the quiet truth we keep missing.

People are drawn to your faith by the life you live..!
