You Need This Magic Ring..!

Very often I see people adding one more alphabet to their name, or some other such thing, but here’s a magic inscription you should write on your ring, and it will do wonders for you!

One day, a king decided to humble his most trusted minister. He told the minister, “There is a certain ring that I want you to bring to me. I give you six months to find it. It has magic powers. If a happy man looks at it, he will become sad, and if a sad man looks at it, he would become happy.” The king knew that no such ring existed in the world, but he wished to give his minister a little taste of humility. The minister had no idea where he could find the ring.

One night he took a walk in one of the poorest quarters of the city. He passed by a merchant. “Have you, by any chance, heard of a magic ring that makes the happy wearer forget his joy and the broken-hearted wearer forget his sorrows?” asked the minister. The merchant took a plain gold ring and engraved something on it. When the minister read the words on the ring, his face broke out in a wide smile.

To everyone’s surprise, including the king, the minister held up a small gold ring and declared, “Here it is, your majesty!” As soon as the king read the inscription, the smile vanished from his face.

The jeweller had written in Hebrew, Gam zeh ya’avor, which means, “This too shall pass.”

Everything, good or bad, success or failure, boom or doom, best of times or worst of times – everything will appear and then pass.

Days have to sleep into nights and nights have to wake up to the days. Without the high and the low notations it won’t be music but just a mere monotone. Without the rise and fall there will be no dancing waves and without the waves there is no dynamism to the sea. How can you define a peak without a valley? The foreground is meaningful only in the context of a background. Without death there will be no value to life.

It is the eternal law of life – the law of impermanence – anything that begins will end. If it had a beginning, then it will have an end.

So dear reader if you are going through such a period of lost hope and disappointment, write these words wherever you can, maybe engrave it on your ring, and you who are riding on a high, remember that you are on top of a mountain and will come down to the valley!

You need this magic ring, with these powerful words engraved: This Too Shall Pass..!

  1. Bob absolutely true, life is unpredictable, joy can turn into sorrow, health into sickness and riches can vanish within no time.

  2. ? ‘this too shall pass’ one and the same phrase but different meanings to different people with their own experiences

  3. To my mind, “this too shall pass” holds the potential to make people truly accept the Idea of Impermanence, something opposite to what most religions preach, The Idea of Eternity. And that alone can make the world a better place as humans figure out the fallacy of accumulation, of greed.

  4. God said, ‘Heaven and earth may pass away but My Word is everlasting. ‘ PraiseGod!He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He is eternal. The wise put their faith in Him and gain everlasting life?
