Sales, and Flying High like a Butterfly..!

Something that excites me after the excitement of writing is teaching and sales! Now that’s a very strange combination isn’t it?
“Your passion for writing, we understand, teaching too,” say relatives and friends, “but isn’t sales an area with a lot of uncertainty?”
“Yes, indeed it is, but that’s one time I have to push myself. When I have to come up with new ideas, and meet new challenges, but after that, when slowly those ideas work, and I see new thoughts yielding results, the sense of joy I have is like I’m flying high like a butterfly!”
“A butterfly?” my friends chuckle and ask, and I know that I have intentionally mentioned a butterfly because I want to tell them a story about challenges and with that look of askance in their eyes, I proceed to do just that:
“A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress.
It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no farther. Then the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and snipped the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.
Neither happened.
In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of it’s life crawling around with a swollen body and deformed wings.
It was never able to fly.
What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the small opening of the cocoon are God’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Very often, struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If God allowed us to go through all our life without any obstacles, that would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Not only that, we could never fly.”
“Ah, yes my friends,” I say as they shake their heads in agreement after I’ve told them this story, “Those challenges which sales gives me, allows me to still fly!”
It needn’t only be sales, it could be anything challenging that you’re doing right now. With those challenges, fly high like a butterfly..!

  1. As I liked reading TimeLife books and I like teaching, I joined the girl I was buying them from,to sell them too and enjoyed meeting like minded people. A friend of my husband, who preferred buying a car, didn’t buy any. He built two houses as he mocked at me saying, the books wouldn’t be seen by people. His car would. ?
