Of Lust, Bishops, and Wrestlers..!

As I watch these innocent teenage girls protesting in Delhi, yes indeed, our daughters who won glory for our country, weeping, appealing, and imploring an impassive, immune nation, to act against lecherous, lewd hands that allegedly groped their young vulnerable bodies while inviting them to share their bed for some nutritional supplements, I shudder with disgust, at how callous we have become, and how unaffected we are!

And then I see a Bishop, one who was accused of raping a nun, but exonerated by a lower court, now asked to resign by his head office in Rome. Why? Didn’t the lower court find him innocent? Didn’t he walk away free? Then why the order to resign?

Because, his bosses know, there’s no smoke without fire!

Just look at the faces and body language of the Bishop and the accused MP and you smell the smoke; not just a whiff, nor is it a small puff, but a huge tsunami of stench from a blazing fire!

Many years ago, a bearded Man of God, looked at his followers straight in the eye and said, “I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart”

That’s it! For Christ it wasn’t smoke, it was the fire itself!

A few years ago, when Bill Clinton was accused of having a relationship with an intern, he tried to squeeze out of the situation by defining sex. I’m not going to go into the details. He did, and sadly, the American people forgave him, for using his high office to lure a young girl into a sexual relationship.

Today, we need to stop using Clinton’s yardstick and use the one Christ used, which is of looking at the smoke, which makes us realize that both the Bishop and the accused MP held feelings of lust for those who were put in their care. Which is as good as adultery!

What more proof do you need? The Vatican made a good move by taking the Bishop away from situations where he would make women uncomfortable, and the government of India, needs to have their man resign from his post too and get him far away from public life.

Are you concerned? Do you watch these young teenage girls, yes indeed, our daughters who won glory for our country, weeping, appealing, and imploring an impassive, immune nation, to act against lecherous, lewd hands that allegedly groped their young vulnerable bodies while inviting them to share their bed?

Do you then just shudder at how callous we have become, or will you instead raise your voice to remove this ball of fire, not just smoke, before such unacceptable behavior becomes an accepted norm with your daughter and mine?

  1. Adultery by priests in the days of Jeremiah Jer 23 14 was dealt severely by the Lord in v 15 !…its a coincidence I found it in my regular reading portion today!!

  2. No smoke without fire should be a good enough yardstick, when it comes to matters like this. We have to send a strong signal to act as a deterrent – especially to those in a position of power….

  3. The bishop must’ve bribed the judge to acquit him. A couple of students were raped while hiding under their beds from the Meitei tribe in majority, armed by police who rested on the veranda after the college was torched and in their own territory the tribe had burnt down churches the police demolished later.

  4. It’s their determination to win & get medals, that is being exploited by those in authority in the sports field. I don’t think this happens in any other country !
We must stand against such atrocities against women in India, who are being treated like 2nd class citizens as in Vedic times, as advocated by the Puppeteer and his puppets !
Let the Lord deal with the fire in the belly of lustful men !

  5. Brij Bhushan mistook his excesses as trappings of his Post. Four weeks n he still struts about his feifdom. The people who condone his behaviour r as guilty. Justice is not far away.

  6. As a nation we have failed the female wrestlers. They are crying out for justice and everyone are keeping quiet like nothing has happened. Except for a few retired cricketers who have long been forgotten, none of the others have bothered to speak up for them. The IPL tournament ended recently. What prevented these cricketers from wearing black bands to show their solidarity with the wrestlers. None of the players including the commentators have spoken up for these wrestlers. How indifferent can we be. Each athlete is only bothered about himself/ herself. None of them want to get into the bad books of the powers that be. The PM, HM, Irani who talk endlessly about the earlier PMs are strangely silent. Is it because the accused is of their party or the wellbeing of the female wrestlers doesn’t matter.

    1. Their indifference reveals their attitude to women Sam. It’s time our women folk understand this, and are not fooled by protective words like Love-Jihad and other ‘keeping them locked in cages’ laws.
