Enquiry into Demographic Changes..!

The government has now announced a high-level committee to scientifically examine demographic changes in the country. The committee is headed by a retired judge, which means somewhere in Delhi, a gentleman who was probably hoping for peaceful mornings with tea and crossword puzzles is now preparing to investigate who moved into which colony and why.

The newspapers said the committee will “scientifically examine the nature, causes and impact” of demographic changes.

Scientifically.

Now whenever politicians use the word “scientifically,” I become nervous. Especially in a country where people still argue on television about whether plastic surgery existed during the Mahabharata and whether ancient India had WiFi during the Vedic age.

But let us come to the main point.

What exactly are demographic changes?

After removing all the frightening words and serious expressions, it simply means people of one community moving into areas where other communities lived earlier.

That is all.

Now I checked something called the Constitution of India. Very dangerous hobby nowadays. According to that old fashioned document, Indians are allowed to live anywhere in India.

So if a family from Kerala moves to Gujarat, that is allowed.

If a family from Bihar settles in Mumbai, that is allowed.

If a Sikh moves into a Christian neighbourhood, or a Muslim buys a flat in a Hindu colony, or a Hindu shifts into an area previously dominated by another religion, that too is allowed.

They are Indians.

Not aliens from Mars carrying laser guns and suspicious vegetables.

Then comes the other fear. Conversion.

But even changing religion is legally permitted in this country, provided it is not forced. Which means an adult citizen still has the right to decide what he or she wishes to believe.

So one wonders what exactly this committee is investigating.

The retired judge, if he is fully retired in mind and spirit, may quietly clear his throat and say, “Excuse me gentlemen, but are we investigating something perfectly legal?”

But perhaps that would spoil the excitement.

You see, fear is very useful before elections. Nothing energises politics more than making citizens stare suspiciously at neighbours who have lived peacefully beside them for twenty years.

Suddenly somebody says, “Look carefully. Their numbers are increasing!”

The other fellow gasps dramatically and drops his samosa.

Meanwhile the price of petrol rises so fast that even auto rickshaws now sound emotionally hurt when starting. Tomatoes behave like luxury jewellery. Gas cylinders are treated with the respect earlier reserved for family heirlooms.

But instead of discussing jobs, food prices, schools, hospitals or fuel, we are discussing where Indians are living.

Maybe what we really need is a sitting judge enquiring why a retired judge is spending precious public money creating fear over something perfectly legal…!

  1. An interesting point of view. Yes of course everyone knows that Indians are free to live anywhere and all that. But if you were to look beyond the superficial, and just hold on to your impulsive reaction asking for debate on jobs, food prices, schools etc. you will indeed find some alarming statistics.

Here is what I found on the internet….

” Government and Official Statements: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that the Muslim population’s decadal growth rate in certain border districts of West Bengal and Assam exceeded 40%, occasionally reaching up to 70% in some areas. The government attributes much of this to illegal infiltration. Public and political discussions frequently highlight districts such as Murshidabad, Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, and Nadia in West Bengal, as well as Dhubri, South Salmara, and Barak Valley districts in Assam. ”

Now surely a 40 – 70 % increase in a certain communities population over a short period of time is not only unusual but physically impossible through natural population growth. You add to this the very real factor of heavy infiltration of Bengali Muslims from Bangladesh into our border areas , particularly through Bengal , then it becomes a very worrying matter.

I am not sure if you have been keeping yourself abreast of ALL the news out of Bengal. Mamata had strongly opposed the Centre’s bid to fence the entire eastern border with Bangladesh including by refusing to grant land to the centre ( after taking money for it ) to put up the fence. It was always suspected that Mamta was encouraging Bangladeshi infiltrators – overwhelmingly muslim – to come and settle in Bengal and become her vote bank. These suspicions have now been proven true by the discovery of thousands of Aadhar cars, ration cards and Voter ID cards found in several TMC offices. A quick search on the internet will bring up the news item.
There have also been reports of tens of thousands of illegal Bangladeshis voluntarily returning to Bangladesh. Who are these people. Interviews by TV channels inform us that they had crossed over illegally, have been living here for several years, have brought their families across and have even been voting in Bengal elections as the TMC had facilitated them acquiring IDs , rations cards and voter ID cards. Since they have been outed through the SIR, and since they will n o longer be eligible for free food, free homes etc. they are choosing to go back.

Another worrying piece of information that has come out is reflected in the Bangladesh Jamaat e Islami leaders PUBLICLY urging Mamta to lead a charge on Delhi and that 17 crore of their cadres would join her in the battle to over throw the Delhi govt. Now where did this come from? There have been rumours that Md. Yunus and Mamata had some sort of an understanding on creating a Greater Bangladesh with vast chunks of West Bengal breaking away from India in the process. The idea being that Mamta would be the PM of this new country and Yunus the President. Here again there have been allegations that money was funnelled to the JEI through the TMC during the coup that overthrew Hasina. Some of TMC’s MLAs, are even alleged to be Bangladeshi nationals.

I am sure all these can be pooh poohed away and dismissed as BJP propaganda and scare mongering. But when one looks to the kind of Terror/Mob rule that was being perpetrated by TMC with the help of Bangladeshi goondas for the last 15 years then no self-respecting govt. can ignore these worrying omens.

Do you recall the “secret” MOU that was signed by Congress ( aka Rahul & Sonia) with the Chinese Communist party in 2008. And when Rahul constantly sounds like the unofficial spokesman of the CCP then the possibility of a nexus between the TMC and the JEI can not be just wished away.

So, my dear brother Bob, while you may be right in thinking that this committee is all hoopla and a waste of time and money, I would like to sincerely urge you to look under the surface, do a bit of serious research on the subject of demographic change and then perhaps come back and do a more serious second article on the subject.

    No offence meant.

    1. Apologies but two observance.
      1. We have a home ministry whose job is to handle infiltration ruthlessly without crying about it.
      2. No documentry evidence is presented, just WhatsApp university. We need hard documentry with govt releases which are absent. They talk about increase in population when there is no census done so how will they know?

      1. The hard evidence has come through the SIR. And is still there to be seen in illegal colonies on Railway land close to major railway stations. It is evidenced in the sudden emptying out of street encroachments in Howrah, Sealdah and burra bazzar.

A quick search on the intenet with the words “demographic change in boder districts” or “Bangladeshi infiltrators” will bring up enough material to make you unconfortable.
