Be Still! Let Your Soul Catch Up.!

“What?” I angrily asked the two birds a few mornings ago while they looked in at me, outside my window. Were they laughing at me? They seemed to be giggling. I didn’t have time for childish behavior and slammed the window shut. I was exhausted with waiting, waiting for something to be done to this inaction of hiding at home, while fearing an invisible enemy outside. Exhausted, washing my hands with soap, even as every stranger with or without a mask looked like a foe!
That same night, while trying to sleep I felt the light on my cell phone blinking and looked at the message, it was, “Be still and know that I am God!” suddenly I smiled. It seemed a message from Someone who’d been watching His child floundering and had decided to talk to me!
Be still: It was a command; STOP wriggling, STOP moving, stop, just STOP rushing around, STOP getting worried, just stop, STOP and let me STOP things.
Then I remembered the two birds and also remembered a little plaque on a table in my childhood home. It had a worn-out picture of a sparrow and a robin and as I peered at it, could decipher words, which went like this:
Said the Robin to the Sparrow,
“I should really like to know,
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.”
Said the Sparrow to the Robin,
“Friend I think that it must be,
That they have no Heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me!

Is that the truth? Is that what the birds were thinking as they looked in and giggled at me? Chuckling, I had no one? Is that what the birds in the air, and our dogs and cats, are thinking as they roam about and see us huddled around looking so worried and hassled?
Locked in our homes! Thinking, we have no one?
A group of Americans made a trip with Brazilian natives down the Amazon River. The first day they rushed. The second day they rushed. The next day they rushed. One day, anxious to continue the trek, they were surprised to find the natives seated together in a circle. When asked the reason for the delay, a guide answered, “They are waiting. They will not move further until their souls have caught up with their bodies.”
Maybe, that’s what this lockdown is all about, a time given for your soul to catch up with your body? A time to still ourselves, a time when we need to wonder about the joy of robins and sparrows, and even the call of the cuckoo!
This Sunday, try being STILL and as your soul catches up with your body, look out, grin at the birds of the air, and like them, allow your Heavenly Father to care for you..!

      1. Lock down time ? hear that still soft voice ( Be still I am your God)
When all around is Shut down, they say , it is open on the top.
Thanks Bro.Bob for alerting us to the positive answer to the doubtful situation we are facing today. Look at the Birds and Animals they are cared for by our Heavenly Father, how much more valuable are we to Him if we trust Him.

        1. The hyperactivity we add to city life is meaningless. We don’t achieve anything by it. Something just had to stop us from this mad rush.

  1. Thank you Bobby. It was a rat race before lockdown, for people. But no one was hungry. Jehovah Jireh is our Eternal Provider of air, food and shelter. What do we need more than that?

  2. The difference between birds and animals and us is..they trust and believe and therefore they see..we need to see first and then we trust and believe..inspite of past blessings!!

  3. The difference between bird’s , animals we as humans ? This Coved19 lockout make us mentely frustrated I really don’t know if bird’s animals feel like us
We have to trust believe in faith in our GOD for Blessings
