GPS and God..!

It’s funny, isn’t it? You slip into your car, punch in an address, and the voice of a polite young lady—or sometimes a very stern one—tells you exactly how to get there. “Turn right in 200 meters,” she says, and like a well-trained schoolboy, you obey. You don’t argue. You don’t protest. You don’t say, “But my uncle told me there’s a shortcut through the fish market.” You simply surrender. And more often than not, you reach your destination.

Now tell me, if we can put such unquestioning faith in a small gadget hanging off our dashboards, why is it so hard to do the same with God?

Psalm 32:8 has already given us the divine guarantee: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” That sounds like the ultimate GPS system to me. Clear instructions. Certain guidance. Absolute accuracy. And here’s the clincher: no internet connection required!

Yet, unlike the voice on our GPS, we argue. We protest. We stall. When God says, “Turn left,” we say, “Not now, Lord, let me try this bumpy road first.” When He says, “Stop,” we press the accelerator harder. And when we end up at a dead end or crash into a ditch, we shake our fists at heaven and cry, “Why, Lord, why?”

Think about it. Psalm 28:7 says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.” That’s not just arrival—it’s arrival with celebration! Imagine your GPS not only guiding you to your cousin’s wedding, but also breaking into song as you enter the banquet hall. That’s the kind of joy God promises when we follow His direction.

But no, we’d rather play driver, navigator, and mechanic all rolled into one. We keep missing exits in life, ignoring detours, and then sitting on the shoulder of the highway, wondering why our journey is so directionless.

Let’s be honest—our phones’ GPS doesn’t take kindly to rebellion. Try defying her instructions once too often and she’ll simply sigh, “Recalculating…” The sad part is, even God does that with us. He allows us our stubborn detours, then graciously recalculates a fresh path to get us back on track. But oh, how much simpler life would be if we’d just listen the first time!

We are, in essence, trusting human-made satellites more than the One who made the stars themselves. Strange, isn’t it? We surrender to Google Maps without hesitation, but when the Creator of galaxies offers to guide us, we treat it like a suggestion box.

Maybe it’s time we installed God’s GPS in our lives. No app store required, no subscription fee. Just surrender. Just trust.

Open His word-start reading.

And when you finally arrive at the destination He has planned for you, you’ll find yourself, as the psalmist says, not just at the right address, but leaping with joy and singing with gratitude.

So today, dear reader, take your hands off that steering wheel of worry and let God guide. Because unlike your car GPS, His won’t just get you there—it’ll get you there with joy…!
