This Saturday, I’ve been asked to speak to a gathering about my book DARE.
Now, you’d think I’d strut in with a PowerPoint presentation, a rehearsed TED Talk tone, and the swagger of someone whose book has changed the world.
No, I plan to do something far more dangerous. I’m going to talk about alignment.
Yes, you heard right. Not wheel alignment. Life alignment. Divine alignment.
You see, it’s one thing to dare to dream. But try daring to align your dream with what God wants for your life—and now, you’re talking about real power. The kind of power that parts seas and topples giants!
So how do we align ourselves with God’s purpose?
I’m going to make an acronym! Yes, a roadmap to alignment, neatly spelt out as: A-L-I-G-N-M-E-N-T.
Let’s break it down:
A – Attitude: It all starts here. Not with altitude, but attitude. Not the puffed-up kind, but one grounded in humility and patience. Because if you think you can fast-track God’s plan like a Domino’s delivery, you’re in for some holy indigestion.
L – Listening: Not to your social media followers or your girlfriend’s advice (tempting though it may be), but to that still small voice. The one that doesn’t shout but gently nudges. The trouble is, we’re often so busy talking, we forget God might want to say something too.
I – Imagine: God gave you a mind not just to remember passwords, but to imagine. To visualise a better you, a bolder purpose, a brighter world. Let your imagination be soaked in divine possibilities.
G – God in control: This one’s tricky. Because we all like the driver’s seat. But being aligned means handing over the steering wheel and trusting that God doesn’t need you GPS-ing His own plan.
N – No fear: Fear puts brakes on dreams. Alignment with God doesn’t mean no storms, it just means your boat won’t sink with Him in it. Dare to go where courage is the currency.
M – Moving forward: Don’t get stuck. Just keep walking, crawling, stumbling forward. Even on days you feel like a spiritual sloth. God guides motion, not inertia.
E – Enthusiasm: Have some passion, guys! Nothing aligned ever looked dull. When you’re in sync with God’s purpose, there’s a fire inside you, not a flickering candle.
N – Now: Stop waiting for signs in the sky. Begin now. Obedience is not a future tense activity.
T – Temptation: Yes, distractions will come. And usually in the form of Facebook, Instagram, or Netflix. But stay focused. Fix your eyes forward. Alignment means narrowing your gaze to where God is calling.
And when I say all this on Saturday, I hope they don’t just go home with a smile—but with a DARE inside them. A dare to align. Because once that happens, the dream no longer chases them.
They’ll be living it…!

Very few even dare to speak about God; being afraid of ridicule. I have always found you refreshingly bold about your faith in God. Personally, I find it beautifully infectious.
Thank you for your kind words Oliver.
Brilliant acronym, Robert!
All the very best!
And share how it went.
Lovely message. Thank you.
Thank you Esther. How good to hear from you!
Thank you Shylaja.
Absolutely true, Bob… great things happen when there is divine “wheel alignment”. That line in the Lord’s Prayer says it all: “Thy will be done on EARTH, [which includes us] as it is in heaven.” Thanks for your thoughts and writings!
