Even as you read the parable of the Sower in the Gospel of Matthew, have you ever wondered about the kind of seed you throw?
Have you also thought about whether some or most of the seed you’ve been throwing has been falling on the pathway, on the wayside, and picked up by the birds of the air, and never sprout?
Today, being Sunday, I’d like you to spend a few moments giving thought to these two facts about the seeds we have been asked to spread around.
First, what kind of seeds do you throw?
Many of us think that by speaking to those of another faith in the same way we address those from our own, will grow the seed.
Wrong.
Those words spoken from a pulpit in a church are meant for churchgoers with some scriptural foundation, and when you spout the same words out to people who’ve not grown up knowing the Word, then it’s like carrying and using the wrong seed.
Analyse the occasion and ponder on the thought behind the words you are about to say. Make the seed even more potent, by giving it foundation and knowing the kind of ground you are planning to throw it onto.
Then according to all this careful study you have done, structure the seed that will work: Give it power, maybe simplicity instead of high-sounding words, and maybe your own life speaking out and not just words!
Secondly, where do you throw those seeds?
A lot of funds are wasted by spiritual groups in having parties and events during our festivals, during which those of other faiths are invited.
Children are called, Santa and the Easter bunny make their appearance, and gifts and easter eggs are exchanged, without anyone ever knowing about why the baby came down, and why He finally died.
We celebrate our festivals like others do, just to make our presence felt in a secular society, instead of using them to further the gospel.
I remember attending the inauguration of a friend’s office, where I found they were having a pooja, a year or two ago. I asked the priest if he could translate into English or Hindi, what the words meant, he willingly did so.
We can do the same, and the message we have of a God coming down, taking our punishment, so that we can walk and talk with Him all the time, is so powerful, that Santa and his entourage of reindeers along with the easter bunny, will soon be forgotten as people want to know more.
Yes, my dear readers, what kind of seed do you throw, and where are you throwing them?
In a country such as ours, what an opportunity, to be a good Sower..!

Wonderful message.
“Make your seeds more potent.”
Thank you Selma
Thank you Bobby. It’s truly thought provoking when a truth is presented instead of a myth. The Living Word gave the Written Word to us that never returns to Him empty when The Holy Spirit guides us, speaks through us and The Truth, Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent, sets the spiritual captives free, as He promised having given us the Great Commission as we’re His followers, by His choice. Many are called but few are chosen since He sees the heart not the talent or outward show.
