Faith to be Cured..!

Many years ago, I attended a healing service of Pastor Benny Hyn, watched a parade of crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs parked at the back like a garage sale of broken dreams. The preacher waved his arms like a seasoned orchestra conductor, his voice reaching a crescendo, “You shall be healed!” People surged forward, the faithful and the hopeful, the desperate and the doubtful. And I wondered, as I often do, what about those who go back the same way they came?

Why are some healed and some not?

It’s a question that’s gnawed at me for years.

I’ve seen folks leave healing meetings with more faith in painkillers than in prayer. And that always rankled inside me. Isn’t faith enough? Or is there something more?

Then this morning, while going through the Book of Acts—I came upon a scene that practically shouted for attention. Acts 14:9-10. Paul and Barnabas are in Lystra, preaching not healing potions, but the Good News. And there’s this lame man—crippled from birth—who’s listening.

Not just hearing. Listening.

Hanging on to every word Paul says like a drowning man clutching a rope.

Then comes the twist. Paul looks directly at him—not casually, not distractedly—but stares at him intently – saw that he had faith to be healed. That’s when Paul calls out, “Stand up on your feet!” And boom! The man jumps up. Doesn’t wobble. Doesn’t test one foot like we do when trying new shoes. He jumps! Walks. Dances, perhaps.

And that’s when the penny, nay a rupee coin dropped for me, with the sound of a divine “clink”.

Paul didn’t just have faith to heal. The man had faith to be healed.

That changes everything.

Faith healing isn’t magic. It’s not the spiritual equivalent of “abracadabra” and definitely not “cash-and-cure.” It’s belief meeting belief—your faith meeting God’s power. And that, my friend, is where miracles happen.

But before that miracle, something else happened—he heard the Good News. He understood who Jesus was. He accepted the fact that his sins had to be forgiven, and with that a new life awaited him. He didn’t just come for healing.

He came to get to know the One who could heal his heart.

That changed everything.

Don’t rush to wave hands or throw anointing oil like perfume samples at a mall. First, tell people about the God who heals. About a love that went to the cross. About a God who doesn’t just mend bones but restores souls. Healing is not about volume in prayer, but depth in faith.

So next time you pray for someone—or for yourself—don’t just ask for the miracle. Ask if the faith to be healed is there. Not faith in healing, but in the Healer, in Jesus.

That’s when miracles walk in.

And crutches fall to the ground…!
