Empty, Sacred, Holy, Religious Places..!

It was a unanimous decision by all the people staying in the housing complex, to find where God was. They decided to send a delegation to all the places of worship, and since the lockdown had been enforced and only one person could go out at a time, they decided to start with a church.
“Tell God about the lockdown!” shouted an old lady as she and others escorted the chosen man to the gate.
“Yes, tell Him, this was the first Sunday in thirty years I missed church!” said a man who had even worn his Sunday best as he also walked with the designated person.
“I know I never entered the church,” said a youngster from the colony, “But tell him Saturday evenings I always hung around outside!”
The man had difficulty opening the huge church doors, but managed to and entered the magnificent cathedral, he looked round at the eerie emptiness, but finally finding the light switches, he got the church lit and smiled, “God,” he whispered, “It’s good to feel your presence!”
The awe inspiring dome on top, polished pine pews, intricately carved altar, all stared at him, and suddenly it seemed to the lone man in the church that they spoke, “The awesome you feel sir, is because of me!” said the dome, “I was built by man to dwarf you, and make you feel small!”
“The peace is because of the colour painted on me!” said the walls, “We know most of those who worship here love blue!”
“The orderliness you feel, which you mistake for divine strength comes from me being so neatly arranged and polished to perfection!” said the pews almost together.
“And the feeling of holiness comes from me,” sang the exquisite altar, “and when the choir sing along I create a sacred, holy feeling for you!”
“But where is God?” asked the designated man, “I have been sent to find Him!”
“God?” asked the pews, the altar, the dome and the walls, and the sound of their surprised voices echoed in the empty church, “Did you expect to find God here?”
Sadness writ on him, the man closed the church, and was just leaving, when a voice said, “Son!”
“God!” shouted the man with relief, “I’ve come in search of you!”
“And sadly,” said God, “People expect to find me inside religious buildings they have built or planning to build for me!”
“Then where do we find you God?”
“You should,” said God, “Find me within you! But till you invite me in, there’s nothing I can do!”
That evening in the housing society that the designated searcher lived, the people heard what he had to say in silence, and then broke into joyous worship, “Welcome God,” they shouted as the doors of trusting, obedient hearts welcomed God in!”
And a God above smiled that a Coronavirus had to show people where He actually needed to live in..!

  1. It is only a matter of time before we all go back to our older ways of finding God. It is not because of the realisation of the truth that we are staying back. It is because of the fear of death.

  2. Going inside Religious places , flaunting your Religious beliefs, has been popular with politicos & aped by the public in general. Will remain so in future also.

  3. “Find me within you! But till you invite me in, there’s nothing I can do.”
What a profound message. Am sure many have invited Him in the past few weeks and months!

  4. God is omnipresent.
We have the impudence to confine God to some tiny man made places of worship!
We fail to recognise the presence of God because God is more of a ‘feel’than a ‘think’ !
We can only eliminate Him from within us .

  5. We have come from God and ha ve to go back to God. To all who accepted Him He gave us the power to become children of God..Coronavirus has come to teach us that,in the seclusion of our lives.

  6. We sing ‘God is dwelling in our heart’ Your message is clear that in reality first and foremost “we should invite God in our hearts”. Covid-19 is teaching us that self; ‘our body’ is the temple of God and not the building walls.
Thanks Bob for the beautiful msg.
