Ah, the good old Bible!

That sacred text filled with wisdom, love, and—wait for it—an arsenal for a few self-proclaimed messengers of God who seem to have mistaken the Good Book for a stick to whack people into submission.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, today’s message is on those cunning folks who wield scripture not as a guiding light but as a bludgeon to get their way.

Now, let’s make one thing clear—I’m not talking about genuine, sincere believers who live out their faith with love and compassion. I’m talking about the Bible-thumping Pharisees of our time, the ones who conveniently flip through holy pages, pluck out a verse, and wield it like an axe to chop down anyone who dares to disagree.

These modern-day Pharisees are the folks Jesus called out back in the day—you know, the ones so obsessed with appearing righteous that they missed the whole point of righteousness itself. In Matthew 7:15-20, Jesus didn’t mince words: “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

And let’s face it, some of these wolves aren’t even bothering with the sheep’s clothing anymore!

So, how do you spot a Bible-wielding bully? Let’s find out, shall we?

Bible for Self-Gain: These folks have a remarkable ability to carry the Bible, even when held upside down, knowing that a huge voter base will blindly support them. They can even twist scripture to suit their own interests—kind of like a bad magician who pulls a rabbit out of a hat but insists it’s a lion.

Unbiblical Lives: If you find the lives they lead are anything but spiritual, then remember Christ doesn’t pick such people to lead His cause!

Fear and Guilt as Tools: Instead of spreading love and encouragement, they use fear like a well-practiced sales pitch, always pretending that there’s an enemy who’s out to wipe out their religion.

Power Over Service: They crave power, prestige, and control—more interested in the title of “God’s Representative” than actually representing God.

If you bump into these ‘p’ types; priests, pastors or political leaders, tread carefully! They may claim divine backing, but rest assured, their agenda is a lot less “thy will be done” and a lot more “my will be obeyed.”

So, how do you find out who these false prophets are?

Simple, use the yardstick of love, compassion, and humility. But mark my words, pride, arrogance and disdain will be what you find.

Jesus lived out His message with love. Real faith—doesn’t need a hammer. It speaks through kindness, through understanding, through an outstretched hand rather than a pointed finger.

Let’s not be fooled by these Bible-Brandishing-Bullies. Instead, choose leaders, whose faith lifts people up rather than tears them down.

Do remember, the 2^nd greatest commandment, and it’s a commandment not a suggestion, isn’t “to beat ‘others’ into submission”, but to “love your neighbor…!”
